An earlier version consisting of autobiographical notes and diary extracts compiled in the 1940s is included elsewhere in the collection (box 119). A somewhat later typescript in which the text has been divided into chapters, including chapters 1-6 and 10-12, is also included in the collection but lacks most of the text of the chapters dealing with the barren lands (chapters 7-9), although partial typescripts of chapters 7 and 8 are included in the folders with the corresponding holograph manuscript of those chapters."
According to a letter from J.E. Middleton the typescript of the manuscript was being edited by him in March 1941.
The autobiography was never published.
