Station provision list
Tyrrell, J. W. (James Williams), 1863-1945
4 p. on 1 folded sheet ; 33 x 21 cm.
Item is a hand-written list of food and other supplies for the Ashe Inlet station. The document was created by Tyrrell while he was hydrographer and meteorological observer stationed at Ashe Inlet in 1885 and 1886.
Title transcribed from item.
"This item appears to be a list of provisions which were left over at the end of the season, and which were packed along with the station house and all the other supplies when the Ashe Inlet station was dismantled and loaded on board the 'Alert' in September 1886. In Gordon's final report on the Hudson Bay expeditions under his command, he notes that 'during the winter of 1885-86, reports were circulated that the stations were insufficiently provisioned and coaled', and that he therefore was including in his published report a list of fuel and provisions which was taken on board from the Digges Island station and returned unused at the end of the season. Tyrrell's list corresponds closely to the published Digges Island list."
Item forms part of the series entitled 'Ashe Inlet files'.
