1 map : ms., on linen ; 108 x 39 cm.
[8 August 1892]
Shows a route north from Du Brochet post at Reindeer Lake, following the Cochrane River and portaging through many small lakes to White Partridge [Kasba] Lake; shows White Partridge [Kazan] River flowing northeast from the lake.
"Title from map, supplied by J.B. Tyrrell."
"Map dated from reference in Tyrrell's 1892 field notebook, entry for August 8th."
Gabriel Thieelzoa was one of a group of Chipewyans from Reindeer Lake encountered by Tyrrell just east of Black Lake on the Fond du Lac River.
"Note on map following title: 8 days journey Reindeer Lake to White Partridge Lake. 8 days journey White Partridge Lake to the sea by the great White Partridge River, in which the current is swift but there are no portages. White Partridge Lake is on the edge of the Barren Grounds, and there is no wood from there to the sea. The route is said to be an easy one."
"Outline map in black and red pen on linen, drawn by Tyrrell, tracing the information from the original version of the map, sketched in pencil on paper by Thieelzoa; place names supplied by Tyrrell. Portages marked in red."
Forms part of the 'Geological Survey maps' sub-series.
