Item is a letter written by J.B. Tyrrell to his wife, Mary Edith 'Dollie' Tyrrell describing the progress of the 1894 expedition as far as Cumberland House. Tyrrell notes that the carrier pigeons were drowned when the canoes capsized making it impossible to send early messages of their arrival in the north to Winnipeg.
