Item is a letter written by Joseph Burr Tyrrell to Peter McKenzie, Esq., Hudson's Bay Co., Montreal, arranging payment for Peter French, one of the Mohawk expedition members from Kahnawake, Quebec. His two brothers, Michel and Louis were also on the expedition.

Pierre French was the oldest of the three brothers and a renowned canoeist. He was the ferryman at Caughnawaga.
