Item is a letter written by James Tyrrell to his infant son William Charlton Tyrrell, just a week after setting out by canoe from Athabasca Landing. The letter was written while the party was at Grand Rapids on the Athabasca River, which was a transhipment point and the northern terminus for the Hudson Bay Company steamer, the 'Athabasca'. June 4 was the third wedding anniversary of James and his wife Isabel.
